MarketBlogic LLC launched in 2008 and this blog went live on April 1, 2009 (honest!).
MarketBlogic.com is a blog about markets and finance from the mostly logical perspective of a former Wall Street portfolio manager. That’s a congenial way of noting that MarketBlogic’s proprietor is currently “between jobs”.
My background includes a BS in engineering and an MBA, plus an initial decade or so of formal training as a security analyst. A large part of my subsequent 15 years in portfolio management was spent unlearning and recovering from these potentially crippling handicaps, and I likely haven’t succeeded, yet.
Visitors to MarketBlogic are encouraged to submit their viewpoints, expertise and constructive feedback as often as possible. The best finance and econ blogs such as Calculated Risk, Naked Capitalism and Infectious Greed have all developed loyal readerships that can be remarkably insightful and occasionally offer expert opinions highly specialized topics. If anything similar happens here in even a small way, we’d be very pleased with the result.
Flattery is of course encouraged, but is not required for readmission to the site.
Being a blog and on the internet, MarketBlogic is absolutely free of charge. We are not being compensated. There’s no tip jar and no ads, which we sometimes find annoying on other sites we visit. Abnormal Returns has been abnormally successful without them and sets a good example. That said, tasteful and small ads someday might not be completely out of the question, if there was truly serious money at stake and our readers (if and when we have any) don’t respond by grabbing up pitchforks and staking out our office.
